Memorandum / Memo ( on English Business )

A memo is generally correspondence from one person in a company to another in the same company, or as an informal letter to someone outside the company. It usually used block format, and the language in memo is informal.

There are several function of memo:

  • Make an announcement
  • Discuss procedures
  • Report on company activities
  • Give information or employees


A memo generally has 5 parts :

  • Addresse ( only the name of people withoutthe address)
  • Sender
  • Date
  • Subject ( tells what the memo is about)
  • Body / Message
